Before its official release, there have been many rumors about the latest installment in the cherished shooter game. With leaks from June 2025 indicating that the upcoming Call of Duty will take place in the Korean peninsula, early evidence strongly suggests that the franchise’s 2026 release will return to the Modern Warfare subseries.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 May Be Coming to PS4
A significant hint regarding the release of the upcoming Call of Duty game can be found in a recent report released by well-known Call of Duty leaker Alaix. Early Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 versions are allegedly being playtested on the PlayStation 4, according to the leaker. According to the source, Activision and Infinity Ward plan to release PS4 and Xbox One versions of the 2026 Call of Duty game alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. The exact title and release date of the upcoming Call of Duty have not yet been confirmed by Activision and Infinity Ward.
Although there isn’t much official information regarding the upcoming Call of Duty, some of its new features have already been hinted at by leaks. According to a leak released in late 2025, Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer could be a “complete copy” of Modern Warfare 2’s gameplay with few significant improvements. According to leaks, the well-liked DMZ game mode will return in the upcoming game, along with new maps specifically designed for it. According to rumors, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch in October 2026.
