The gaming industry is teeming with exciting opportunities as we look to top games in 2025. This year promises a wide variety of games that appeal to all kinds of gamers, from eagerly awaited sequels to creative new franchises. A look into the future of interactive entertainment will be provided by this article, which will explore some of the greatest and most anticipated games for 2025.

1. Hollow Knight: Silksong

Since its initial release in 2017, Hollow Knight, an independent Metroidvania created by a trio of individuals, has steadily gained cult status. Thus, it should come as no surprise that excitement for its sequel, Silksong, has reached a fever pitch.

Playing as the agile Hornet, a deadly antagonist in the original game, you must overcome all new obstacles and enemies as you attempt to rise to the top of the kingdom you were imprisoned in. The game is set in a haunted world of bugs but is beautifully hand-drawn.

2- S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernoby

You must return to the exclusion zone surrounding the notorious nuclear power plant in Heart of Chornobyl, the fourth game in the Stalker series from Ukrainian developer GSC Game World, to survive, shoot monsters, and take on strange radioactive anomalies. Who knows what the team has developed to surpass the 2007 original game, which featured a hive-mind of seven connected scientists?

3- Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio, the first game from a new studio founded by some of the main players of the Persona series, comes on a wave of excitement from role-playing gamers. Metaphor, which debuts as publisher Atlus marks its 35th anniversary, replaces Persona’s Japan setting with a fantastical world where traditional fantasy elements collide with rebellious “human” monsters, completely upending the genre.

The United Kingdom of Euchronia, whose king has been assassinated, is the fantasy world in question. Without heirs, the populace will elect a new ruler, and your protagonist is one of many vying for the position.

4- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

In Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the sulky mercenary goes full Rambo as Solid Snake meets a real snake. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, is a faithful remake of Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece, albeit one in which he was not directly involved.

Previews and gameplay footage have revealed a level of detail the PS2 could only dream of at the time, including enemies being thrown down with CQC and jungle creatures being devoured. However, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be the best game in the series if the remaster is anything like the original.

5- Batman: Arkham Shadow

Although many fans of the adored Batman trilogy had hoped that Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad would be the next Arkham game, it turns out that’s not the only new game coming to the series in 2024. Later this year, the VR game Batman: Arkham Shadow will be available only on the Meta Quest 3. It is a direct sequel to the sometimes-overlooked Batman: Arkham Origins, which was not created by Rocksteady.

Bats will battle the enigmatic Rat King, whose henchmen have abducted several prominent Gotham public figures, and we’ll learn about the beginnings of more well-known outlaws like Harley Quinn and Scarecrow, who both starred in Batman: Arkham.
